How Planning Ahead Promotes Shopping Locally

Are you tired of last-minute grocery store runs? Do you find yourself constantly running out of your favorite snacks and ingredients? Fear not, my friends, because planning ahead can not only save you time and stress, but it can also promote shopping locally!

Make a shopping list

We all know the struggle of making a grocery list, only to forget it at home and end up wandering aimlessly through the aisles. But by taking just a few minutes to plan ahead, you can make your shopping experience a breeze. Start by making a list of the items you need for the week, and check to see what you already have in your pantry. This way, you won't be tempted to buy unnecessary items and you'll avoid food waste.

Now, you might be thinking, "But guys, how does this promote shopping locally?" Great question! When you plan ahead, you can look up the local farmers markets and small businesses in your area that sell fresh produce and homemade goods. By shopping locally, you're supporting your community and reducing your carbon footprint.

Planning ahead before you go shopping also gives you the opportunity to stock up on the items you need from local stores. By watching the specials at your local stores and loading up on those items, you'll rarely have to run out to a handy, yet nasty, chain store to grab an item that you've used up.

Plus, shopping locally often means you'll get better quality products. Instead of buying produce that's been shipped from across the country or even the world, you can buy fruits and vegetables that were grown just a few miles away. And let's be real, there's something special about biting into a juicy, locally-grown tomato.

But what about those times when you do need to make a quick trip to the grocery store? Try to choose a store that sources their products locally whenever possible. Many grocery stores now have signs or labels indicating where their products come from, so keep an eye out for those.

So, there you have it folks. Planning ahead not only makes your life easier, but it also promotes shopping locally and supporting your community. And who knows, maybe you'll discover some new favorite local products along the way!

That's the plan!

If everyone was like me - a person who takes the bus to get the shopping done, we would all be planning ahead. I learned long ago to carefully plan where I'd go and what to get so that I could minimize my time on the bus and minimize the number of stops.

Terry Says:
I like to plan by reviewing all the weekly flyers and then I go to a local store and they will almost always price match the corporate shops. It makes one stop shopping - on a budget.
