Hello friends! Aren't you just loving these absolutely gorgeous Fall days?
How spectacular has the weather been and witnessing the changing colours of the leaves never seems to get boring year after year. We pull out our sweaters and jackets go for walks and take many photos outdoors. I swear my cellphone is jam packed with them. It really is a beautiful time of year.
Our local Farmers markets are bursting at the seams with fresh local produce to get us ready for cooking up a storm of delishisness. Who doesn't love to come home to a hot bowl of home made chilli or an amazing dish of chicken noodle soup? I will often spend Sunday cooking up a large batch of comfort food for the freezer to enjoy later that week or even ( if it lasts) into the Winter. We recently stewed up a big bushel of roma tomatoes for the freezer. We actually didn't add anything except a little salt and man are they sweet. We now have them in the freezer for use in pastas or stews or anything that calls for tomatoes. Hopefully they will last throughout the Fall but I really doubt it!
It's also a treat to go out to one of our independent restaurants for dinner to enjoy a fine meal made with local ingredients. Even though the patios may be closed it's still a fun way to spend the evening with friends especially if someone else is doing the dishes!
We love to support local businesses and there are many new and interesting spots to try in our neighbourhood. Step out of your comfort zone and forego the chain eateries. Support your local businesses whether it be to buy fresh food or dine. Its good for the soul and the local economy.
Keep Warm :)
