Shop Local for Selfish Reasons

Sometimes we wake up and feel like doing something good for the planet. It can feel overwhelming when we look at the big picture. How can I make a difference? I am just one tiny speck going about my daily life with no power to change the world. I want to do something but what can I do and does it really matter?

I believe that small changes do matter. However it can be hard sometimes to see how buying locally has any impact in the great scheme of things.

Over the past few years I have grown very tired of the same old stuff at the mall. The uninspiring clothes, the less than stellar customer service and the whole atmosphere was frankly a real downer.

When I need a new outfit or a cup of coffee I head to the street and shop where I can chat with the owner, get advice and have a conversation. This is how I love to shop. I don't want to be a faceless nameless irritant to a surly teenager at a big box store. I want to know the owner and engage with them. Life is about communicating and getting to know the local business owner is a great way to feel a part of your community.
